Sutherland and Caithness synod
A higher church court. It was erected around 1640. The presbyteries of Orkney and Shetland were included in it from 1646 to 1725, when Orkney was disjoined, and 1715 when Shetland was severed. The seat of the synod was at Wick. Latterly it contained the presbyteries of Caithness, Dornoch and Tongue.
