The Court of Session
The highest civil court in Scotland, the Court of Session deals with civil cases which cannot be heard by sheriff courts, and also hears appeals from sheriff courts, some tribunals and other bodies. The Court is divided into an Outer House, which hears cases of first instance (i.e. cases being presented in court for the first time) and an Inner House, which mainly hears appeals.
