SCOTTISH CABINET : 2ND ADMINISTRATION : MINISTER FOR EDUCATION AND YOUNG PEOPLE

This position was originally created in 1999 as the Minister for Children and Education, being renamed Minister for Education, Europe and External Affairs in 2000, and Minister for Education and Young People in 2001. The post was renamed Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning in 2007. The Minister had responsibility for issues relating to children, young people, and education. The 2nd Administration refers to the Labour/Liberal Democrat coalition Scottish Executive which was elected at the second Scottish Parliament election on 1 May 2003.
