Alyth Associate Secession (Antiburgher), United Presbyterian kirk session

A secession church court. It began as an Antiburgher Associate Session congregation in 1745, when two elders from Alyth parish acceded to the Associate Presbytery of Dunfermline. To begin with the seceders of Alyth had to worship first in Dundee, later Coupar Angus, and also at Rattray, before the first minister of the charge was ordained in 1783. The parish became a United Presbyterian parish in 1847. In 1900 the church became Alyth South United Free Church. In 1927 it united with Alyth North United Free under the name of Alyth United Free. In 1929 the parish became Alyth Barony Church of Scotland and in 1976 Alyth Barony united with the congregation of Alyth High, under the name of Alyth.
