Orkney synod
A Church of Scotland synod. Its jurisdiction contained the presbyteries of Cairston, Kirkwall, and North Isles. The synod of Orkney originally contained both Orkney and Shetland. From 1646 to 1725 it was united with the synod of Sutherland and Caithness, and in 1830 Shetland was removed from Orkney synod and erected as a separate synod.
