New Machar kirk session
A church court that sat within the presbytery of Aberdeen and the synod of Aberdeen. In 1609 this parish, along with a chapel of St Columba that existed in ancient times at Monykebuck, was disjoined from St Machar's, Aberdeen. The newly erected parish was initially named Monykebuck but by the end of the 17th century had come to be known as Upper Machar. The name of New Machar was later introduced in the eighteenth century.
