Markinch United Associate, United Presbyterian kirk session

A secession church court. It began as a United Secession congregation in 1831. The congregation was sanctioned in 1834. It passed to the United Presbyterian church in 1847, to the United Free Church, as Markinch - Balbirnie, in 1900, and to the Church of Scotland in 1929. In 1956 Markinch - Brunton joined with the congregation of Markinch - Balbirnie, to form the congregation of Markinch - Balbirnie Brunton, although this name was later changed to Markinch - St Mark's.
