A parish mainly in the county of Angus, but with a small part in the county of Perth. It was a quoad omnia parish (a parish for civil and religious purposes). In 1891 the Boundary Commissioners placed the civil parish wholly in the county of Angus. It was sometimes known as Liff, Benvie and Invergowrie.
