Kilwinning kirk session
A church court that sat within the presbytery of Irvine and the synod of Glasgow and Ayr. Kilwinning Abbey, thought to have been founded by Richard de Morville, was built during the years 1169-1189 and is believed to have been erected on the site of an ancient church dedicated to St Winning, After the Reformation the Abbey chancel was converted for use as the parish church.
