Bridge of Weir Free kirk session
A secession church court. It originated as Burntshields Associate Congregation (Burgher)in 1739. In 1826 it became Bridge of Weir Associate Congregation. In 1839 minister and congregation entered the Church of Scotland, but withdrew in 1843 at the time of the Disruption, when they adhered to the Free Church. The congregation passed to the United Free Church in 1900 as Bridge of Weir Freeland, and to the Church of Scotland in 1929.
