Gamrie, Down kirk session
A church court that sat within the presbytery of Turriff, later of Buchan, and the synod of Aberdeen. The old church of Gamrie, which by decree of the Court of Teinds 1817 was removed to a new site near Gardenstown, was dedicated to St John the Evangelist and belonged, prior to the Reformation, to the Abbey of Arbroath. The present day church was erected in 1830. A part of the parish was removed in 1864 to form the quoad sacra parish of Macduff, and another in 1885 to form the quoad sacra parish of Gardenstown.
