Edinburgh - St Giles' kirk session

A church court that sat within the Presbytery of Edinburgh and the Synod of Lothian and Tweeddale. It was formed in 1598 as one of four burgh churches and was to serve the North West quarter of Edinburgh. In 1633 St Giles became a Cathedral with a bishop appointed by Charles I. It is also known as Edinburgh High Kirk, and was previously referred to as the New Kirk and East Kirk.
