Dunbar - East United Presbyterian kirk session

A secession church court. The charge had its origins in Eastbarns as an antiburgher congregation, and its first minister was ordained in 1762. In 1820, with the union of the Burgher and Antiburgher New Lichts to form the United Secession Church the congregation removed from Eastbarns to a new church building in Dunbar, known as the East Church. In 1847 it became a United Presbyterian church, and in 1865 a union was proposed with the West Church (UP), but this was not accepted. The congregation was dissolved in 1885.
