Bonkle United Presbyterian, United Free kirk session
A secession church court. It originated as an Associate congregation in 1742. It was known as Cambusnethan or Muirkirk of Cambusnethan, later also as Bonkle. It adhered to the Burgher side in the dispute over the burgess oath in 1747. The congregation passed to the United Presbyterian Church in 1847, to the United Free Church, as Bonkle, in 1900, and to the Church of Scotland, as Newmains Bonkle, in 1929.
