Midholm United Original Secession kirk session
A secession church court. Midholm, or Midlem, lies in the parish of Bowden. The congregation was formed in 1740, after the Duke of Roxburgh had sought to impose his own candidate as minister. The first minister was inducted and ordained in 1742, and a church was built in 1746. The congregation subsequently split over the burgess vote, and this occurrence led to the setting-up of a Burgher congregation in Selkirk. The charge remained within the Original Secession church and was dissolved in 1906.
