Johnshaven United Presbyterian, Church of Scotland kirk session

A secession church court. It began as an Associate Session Church in 1769. It suffered a serious schism in 1803, when a group of dissidents left to form a Burgher church, but the two were reunited at the union of 1820. The congregation passed to the United Presbyterian Church in 1847 and to the United Free Church, as Johnshaven St John's, in 1900. This united with Johnshaven West, the former Benholm Free Church, in 1903 as Johnshaven. The congregation then passed to the Church of Scotland in 1929 and united with Benholme (so spelt) in 1947.
