Balfron Associate, United Presbyterian, United Free kirk session
A secession church court. It began as a number of praying societies, who petitioned to join the Associate Presbytery in about 1737. At the Breach of 1747 most of the congregation followed their minister to the Associate Synod (Antiburgher), later General Associate Synod side. In 1820 the General Associate Synod united with the Associate Synod and the church became part of the United Secession Church. On the union of the United Secession Church with the Relief Church in 1847, Holm of Balfron became part of the United Presbyterian Church. In 1880 Holm of Balfron parish united with Balfron United Presbyterian Church as Balfron and Holm United Presbyterian Church. In 1900 it became a United Free parish and in 1929 became Balfron South Church of Scotland.
