Saltcoats - Middle and West United Presbyterian kirk session

A secession church court. It began as two separate local congregations. One of them, Saltcoats Burgher Church, had a difficult beginning, delayed for several years by popular hostility, before the first minister was ordained in 1792. Saltcoats West (Antiburgher) church was considerably older, dating from 1739. The two merged as Saltcoats Middle and West United Presbyterian church in 1852. This passed successively to the United Free Church, as Saltcoats Erskine (in 1900), and to the Church of Scotland. Saltcoats Erskine united with Saltcoats Landsborough Trinity in 1993 as Saltcoats New Trinity.
