Are you planning a holiday in Scotland this year? You can research your family history while you’re here!
Join us at the Scotland’s People Centre in Edinburgh.
Book your seat early to avoid disappointment as we often get fully booked over the summer months.
Scotland’s People staff can offer support on-site, but you can also prepare for your visit in advance.
Some tips before you arrive:
- Searching is unlimited in the Scotland’s People Centre. For a £15 daily fee, you can search as many records as you need to.
- You can save records you find to your account. You can also print copies of records, for a small fee of £0.25 per page.
- Form a clear idea of who and what you want to look for. If you can, speak to relatives about their recollections of family members.
- Familiarise yourself with the Scotland’s People website. Carry out some initial research online – this will help you work out what you’d like to investigate.
- If you’ve found helpful documents or information, bring them with you! You never know when you might need it.
- Arrive early to ensure you have the full day to research. We're open 9:00 - 16:00 Monday to Friday, apart from public holidays.
- We welcome large parties. Please contact us before booking parties of five or more people.
- Follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with our latest tips or event.
