The ScotlandsPeople image library contains a selection of archive photographs, illustrations from records and important documents from the National Records of Scotland.

All the photographs in the image library are Crown copyright and when you buy a high quality tiff image from the image library it comes with permission to use it in the following ways:

• book, journal, magazine, newspaper, publication, broadcast
• online use – limited to a maximum of 20 images per website
• display/exhibition/talk/presentation

The material must be reproduced accurately, not be used in a misleading context and NRS must be acknowledged.

Should you wish to re-use more than 20 images for one of the purposes listed above, or to use images for a purpose not listed, please contact NRS at the address below.
