Answers: The rebel forces were commanded by Wallace and Leirmont. A letter was taken to the General. The rebellion in question was the Pentland Rebellion.

William lowrie of Blackwood agit yeirs or therby maried
sworne deponns That he saw wallace and Leirmount with the rebells
at Bathgate That wallace sent a letter w[i]t[h] the deponner to the
Generall of the Kingis forces That wallace Commandit the rebellious
pairtie That at Collingtoun he askit who was M[ister]r John Welsch at a
persoun and he was shoaen thair be that persoune That he knew
not wallace of before but he himself and that pairtie callit him
so and they said he commandit and that wallace sent a letter
signit with his hand to the generall in maner forsaid sic subitur
