Poser 277 - Births in Edinburgh, 1693

This week's poser is an extract taken from the Old Parish Registers, Births, Edinburgh, 1693 (National Records of Scotland, O.P.R. Births 685/01 0120 0072).

The handwriting is close to modern hand but still incorporates some secretary hand letters as for example the letter e. The clerk had a tendency to flourish his capital letters. Watch out for his capital letters P and B, his capital letter A and lower case letter a. The abbreviation A.D.N. used in this extract refers to the phrase 'a daughter named'.

This week's question: what was the name of the newborn, when was he/she born and when baptized?
