 William Cullen CC8/8/128 [p.671] 12 May 1790 Test[ament] Dative Dr Will[iam] Cullen The Testament Dative and Inventary of the debts and sums of money which were addebted and resting to Umq[uhi]le Dr William Cullen Physician in Edinburgh at the time of his deceased who deceased upon the …… day of ……. Seventeen hundred and ninety years Faithfully made and given up by Dr Henry Cullen Physician in Edinburgh and Archibald Cullen Counsellor at law in London lawful sons of the said defunct, and only Executors dative qua nearest in kin decerned to him, And that by decreet of the Commissary of Edinburgh, as the same dated the Twenty first day of April Seventeen hundred and Ninety years in itself more fully bears. Follows the Inventary In the First the said umqle Dr William Cullen had addebted and resting owing to him at the time of his decease the sums of money after mentioned Vi[delice]zt the sum of Five pounds Sterling being part of One hundred and five pounds nineteen Shillings and five pence Sterling the proceeds of the roup of the horses, Cows, husbandry utensils and other on the Farm of Ormiston hall sold on the Fifteenth day day of April Seventeen hundred & ninety Conform [p.672] conform to Roup roll Signed by Samuel McDoual Sworn Auctioneer in Mid Calder & Thomas Johnston Land Surveyor the Clerk. Item the sum of Five pounds Sterling being part of the sum of Five hundred and Eighty four pounds eight shillings Sterling of principal ? is interest, due to the defunct on a Cash Accompt with Mansfield Ramsay and Co[mapn]y Bankers in Edinburgh. Item five pounds Sterling being part of Five hundred pounds Sterling due the defunct by Charles Elliot Bookseller in Edinburgh part of the price of Dr Cullens Treatise on the Materia Medica –Extending the Sums herein given up in hail to the sum of Fifteen pounds Sterling which in Scots money is One hundred and eighty pounds Summa of the Inventary} jC lxxx £ib[ra] Masters Andrew Balfour & Cautioner David Thomson Writer to the Signet; dated the Twelfth day of may Seventeen hundred and Ninety years. First Eik as follows Masters Andrew Balfour & Ratify, Approve and Confirm the said Archibald Cullen Counsellor at law only surviving executor dative qua nearest in kin to the defunct, And in and to the sum of money after written & omitted & Vizt the sum of Four hundred and Fourty pounds Sterling being a further part of Dr Cullens Treatise on the Materia medica, and due to him by the late Charles Elliot Bookseller in Edinburgh & now by his trustees.- Extending the said sum of four hundred and fourty pounds Sterling In Scots money to Five thousand two hundred and Eighty pounds. And we Give and Commit cautioner [p.673] Cautioner David Thomson Writer to the Signet dated the thirteenth day of July Seventeen hundred and Ninety one years.
