 [In Margin] Test[ament] Dative & Inv[entor]y of Umq[ui]le Lord Melville [Main Text] The Testament Dative and Inventory of the Goods gear Debts and sums of money that Pertained belonged and were Addebted to the deceased The Right Hon[oura]ble Henry Lord Viscount Melville within The Parish of Comrie and Commissariot of Dunblane
The time of His Lordships Decease which was in the Month of may last Faithfully Made and given up by The Right Hon[oura]ble Robert Lord Viscount Melville only son of the said Defunct and nearest in Kin to him Which Robert Lord Viscount Melville is decerned in only Executor Dative qua qua nearest in Kin to the said Right Hon[oura]ble Henry Lord Viscount Melville his Father by the Commissary of the said Commissariot upon The 26th day of June last as An act or Decreet Dative –Made thereanent bears –Inventary There pertained belonged and was addebted to the said Defunct time of his decease Foresaid The Right & Interest in the Capital Stock of the Bank of Scotland and corresponding to £2,000 Sterling of said capital Stock Item there was justly Addebted resting and owing to the said Defunct time foresaid of his decease the sum of £5 Sterling being part of the sum of Six hundred & seventy nine pounds eighteen shillings and ten pence Sterling of arrears of Sallary due to his Lordship as Keeper of His Majestys Privy Seal of Scotland from The fifth day of April to the 29th day of May both last being being the day of his Lordships death- Summa Inventarii £2005- Confiramtio Confirmed 10th July 1811 John Tainsh written in Crieff Comm[issione]r [In margin] Inventary of the Personal Estate of Lord Vic[oun]t Melville
[Main text] At Dunblane the thirteenth day of July Eighteen hundred and eleven years In presence of Robert Baysks – Esq[ire] Commis[sione]r of the Commissariot of the
Commissariot of Dunblane Compeared William Stirling Mateny as pro[curato]r for Robt Lord Vicount melvill and produced and gave in an Inventary of the personal Estate of the Deceased Henry Lord Viscount Melville with an affidavit Emitted by the said Robt Lord
Viscount Melville in presence of Henry Scott Alves Comm[issione]r Appointed by the said Comm[issa]ry Upon the 9th July 1811 Which Inventary affidavit the said Will[ia]m Stirling as pro[curato]r foresaid Desired Desired might be recinded in the books of the said Commissariot in terms of the Statute 44th of His Present Majesty C[h]ap[ter] 98 N[umber] 23 which desire the said Comm[issione]r found reasonable & Ordained the same to be done Accordingly and whereof the Tenor follows viz[delice]t Inventary of the personal Estate of the Right Honourable Henry Lord Vict Melville who died on the 29th Day of May 1811 1st Arrears of Rent due to the Defunct Time of his decease £80 2nd Household Furniture Books Bed and Table Linen, Plate Pictures, Wines & other Liquors Live Stock, Carriages, Carriage & Saddle Horses and other articles at Duniren conform to Inventary & Appointment thereof under the hands of James Christie Licenced auctioneer and Sworn appraiser at Perth dated the 2nd day of July instant £3816..5..4 – 3rd the Defuncts right & Interest in the Capital Stock of the Bank of Scotland Corresponding to £2,000 Sterling of said Capital Stock Stock which according to the Selling price or verdict thereof at the time of his Lordships Death amounted to £3432..-..- 4th. The arrears of Sallary accruing to Henry Lord Viscount Melville as Keeper of his Majesty’s –Privy Seal of Scotland from The 5th day of April to the 29th day of May both last and extending to the sum of £679..18..10. By the Commissary of the Commissariot of Dunblane Compeared The Right Honourable Robert Lord Viscount Melville Who being solemnly sworn & Examined Depones That the
Deceased The Right Honourable Henry Lord Viscount Melville His Father died on the twenty
Ninth day of May last without Making any general Disposition or Settlement of his personal
Estate That the Deponent has Entered Entered upon the possession & Management of his Fathers Personal Estate or moveable Estate as Executors qua nearest in Kin to his said Father That the Deponent knows ofNo General Settlement left by the deceased relative to the Disposal of his personal estate or Effect That the foregoing Inventary which is Signed
By the Deponent and the said Commissioners as relative Hereto is a full and complete Inventary of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said Deceased wherever situated, And belonging or due beneficially to the deceased at the time of his death in so far as the same has come to the Deponents knowledge and that the value of said Estate situated in Scotland is above the value of Seven thousand five hundred ponds Sterling and under the value of Ten thousand pounds Sterling all which is truth as the Depoent shall answer to God (Signed) Melville H.S.
