D.C.L. African Traveller who died at Ulala Central Africa on or about the 4th day of May 1873. Livingstone Walter MacKenzie J.P. At Glasgow the 15th day of September 1874. In presence of Walter MacKenzie Esquire One of Her Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County of Lanark. Appeared Thomas Steele Livingstone presently re siding in Hamilton eldest Son and one of the Executors Dative of the deceased Reverend David Livingstone L.L.D. D.C.L. African Traveller who being solemly sworn and examined Depones that the said David Livingstone died at Ulala Central Africa on or about the 4th day of May 1873 and the Deponent is about to enter upon the possession and management of the deceaseds estate along with Agnes Livingston residing in Hamilton William Aswell Livingstone Bachelor of Medicine presently residing in Glasgow and Anna May Livingstone residing in Hamilton as Executors Dative about to be appointed by the Commissary of The County of Lanark: that the deponent knows of no Testamentary Settlement or other Writing left by the deceased relative to the disposal of his personal Estate and Effects or any other part thereof: that the forgoing Inventory signed by the Deponent and the said Justice of the Peace as relative hereto is a full and complete Inventory of the Personal Estate and Effects of the Said deceased David Livingstone wheresoever situated and belonging or due to him beneficially at the time of his death in so far as the same has come to the deponents Knowledge: that the Deponent does not know of any money or property belonging to the deceased liable to the duty imposed by the Acts 23 vict C15 and C3 & Comp[are]d 25 Sept 1874 [in margin] 24 vict C 80: That the value at this date of the said Personal Estate and Effects situated in the United Kingdom including the proceeds accured thereon down to this date is One thousand Pounds Sterling and under One thousand five hundred Pounds Sterling: That Confirmation of the said Personal Estate is required In favor of the Deponent and the said Agnes Livingstone, William Aswell Livingstone and Anna May Livingstone: All Which is Truth as the Deponent shall answer to God.
